Not the Tsunami – that hurt the tape supply. The disk drive component makers were all in the Thai flood plains. One factory made the heads, one made the platters, one made the controller boards, etc. Finally, a factory assembled them into the drives we bought.

Since the 1Tb drives were approaching end of life (in manufacturing terms) the factories may simply retool for the next generation of 3Tb drives. We’re not likely to see new 1Tb drives for $50 again. In about a year we should be able to buy 3 Tb drives for $100.

I can’t think of any NLE that opens Flash. I haven’t used Premiere in ten years, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it doesn’t open flash files.

What resolution is the original? If it was same as your “render as” encoding then Vegas didn’t have to do as much work. If you are resizing the resolution in the lower-res encode, then Vegas has to do a lot more work.

You can share anything in the public folder of your Dropbox. (Everything else is private). Just put the file into the /Public folder, right click on the file, and select Dropbox in the drop-down menu and click on “Copy Public Link”. You can safely share that link with anyone.

DO report it to SCS. It’s a known bug, but until they can reproduce it, they can’t fix it. The more bug reports they receive on this, the more likely they will assign more resources to it.
Someone on the Sony forums tried to tabulate the problem to discover any commonality between occurrences, but he found that there is NO common factor. None.
