Since video is by job, it is a necessity to have more than one PC. I have Pro 10 on an older 4-core HP computer and Pro 11 on my editing computer and a laptop.

No. I and many other users aren’t seeing these problems. Every software release snares a few users with new problems, and after years of complaints that “Vegas doesn’t use the GPU”, SCS finally rewrote the code to use GPU support. So, this release of Vegas Pro is catching more users with problem PCs. Be careful what you wish for.
I have Vegas running on three workstations and a laptop. If an issue is limited to one PC, then the problem is in that PC – NOT A BUG!
I have one PC that reliably crashes while running Vegas Pro 11 – if I open the F/X window twice. None of my other PCs do this, so I am looking at that PC’s hardware and drivers for the solution. I do NOT expect SCS to fix my PC.
Suggesting that you run Vegas with GPU support turned off is only a troubleshooting technique to isolate the cause of a problem.

TURN OFF THE GPU TO ISOLATE THE PROBLEM !!!!!!
If your encodes finish with GPU support turned off – then the problem is in your GPU. If not, then keep looking. But don’t expect SCS to fix your computer.

Are you using the latest video drivers? If your video card is nVidia, then get their latest beta driver.

This could be the problem. What format is the supplied font in?
If there are serifs (pointy things) on the font, no NLE can render them well.

Capture the VHS twice then blend the two. VHS is analog so noise appears differently in the two captures.

Oops, wrong movie.
As you observed, VHS is pretty bad to start with. Then you’re going to cram 2.5 hours on a DVD – things will get ugly pretty quick.
A DVD is MPEG. While you can upload MPEG to YouTbe, it isn’t the best format. (On the other hand – you’re starting with VHS, so it’s not a quality hit that most would notice.)
But, you don’t just “pull off” a video from a DVD. Sure you can use markers and play selected chapters from the DVD, but that isn’t a file you can upload to You Tube.
If you want a DVD, then encode MPEG and AC3 using the DVD Architect templates in the “Render As” menu. If you want to upload the individual songs to YouTube, then encode each song into a separate file. (Burn those on a separate DVD as a data disk). I would probably use the Sony AVC encoder. I don’t know which version of Vegas you have, but there is a YouTube template in Version 11.

The “Media Offline” in the track thumbnail is normal. If you go to a window outside of Vegas, the media files are closed. This is to permit you to edit them in another program – usually Photoshop or Sound Forge.

I don’t recall who posted this, but:
“Xvid and DivX are not supported by Vegas. If you are using a 64-bit version of Vegas you would need a 64-bit Xvid codec.
Anyway the solution is to not use Xvid or DivX so just convert the files with something like AviDemux to a format like Motion-JPEG video with PCM audio and the files should edit fine.”
