Because of the low upgrade price, I’m always lured into buying the latest version of Sony Vegas Pro 64-bit. But, I’m telling you, Sony needs to improve on the stability of the program. Constant crashes – especially when it come to creating NewBlue titles, adding/removing simple filters/effects.

It becomes very time consuming and oh so annoying.

Yes my experience exactly. Is it just the 64 bit users or are 32 bit users having the same issue?

…32-bit users? I wouldn’t know and don’t really want to take the time to find out for myself. Call me lazy.

Are you using the latest video drivers? If your video card is nVidia, then get their latest beta driver.

…I have the latest nVidia beta drivers for my GTX5500 Ti OC. I’ve gone back and forth between the last 3 nVidia driver builds with the same result.
It’s Vegas 11 – and not unlike previous experience with earlier versions. Never a day’s use w/o the app crashing at least once. Basic editing is solid. It’s when I get into putting on the dressing Vegas goes limp.

Have you tried turning off GPU support in the Preferences?

Turn off GPU support? Why would I do that? I have a way-more-than adequate video card – CUDA – all the bells and whistles. GPU rendering is one of the key selling points of Vegas Pro 11.

I don’t expect Vegas to perform like Premiere, but for once, I would like a version to be stable.

I’ve been at this a pretty long while. Digital multimedia hardware and creative software has been a passion I grew into in-between working in the music business and a degreed fine artist into a number of mediums.

I want GPU rendering to work as advertised. CUDA!!!!!

Steve, are you not seeing any of these issues? I’m curious if this is random or if there are a great number of us that have this problem.

Tell me a single reason why Vegas should not perform like Premiere.

If you want LESS crashes…turn off GPU acceleration. If you want FASTER renders, choose CPU only, NOT automatic in any form of AVCHD. Just the way it is, we ALL have been duped on this one….not just you…we all feel your pain. I have two systems and both have issues, one with an NVIDIA card, the other a Radeon (one they show IN there actually tests)! I have had no success with ANY drivers and was tired of wasting my time.
    Good Luck!

I am having exactly the same issue with Vegas Pro 11. I am attempting to render projects out and I am experiencing consistent – 100% repeatable crashes.

Seriously – we need to get some visibility and some customer numbers behind this issue.

Simply. I am sick to death of paying for “professional” software and then finding it has been coded by amateurs who cannot understand the concept of “exception handling”. For too long have customers been made to endure substandard product simply becuase it is software. If this was a hammer, we’d take it right back to the shop.

I would very much like for Sony Creative Software support to assist with troubleshooting this issue and maybe provide some debugging or analysis scripts, but no response from support at all.
