Sigh… And people wonder why I refuse to help others fix their PC.
TURN OFF THE GPU TO ISOLATE THE PROBLEM !!!!!!
If your encodes finish with GPU support turned off – then the problem is in your GPU. If not, then keep looking. But don’t expect SCS to fix your computer.

February 9, 2012 at 6:13 pmWell 1st off he’s using a 550 which isn’t enough horsepower for CUDA with Premiere and may not be enough for heaving lifting in Vegas either, The GTX 570 is min. requirement for Mercury Engine which is a HUGE leap over his 550 in price and power.

February 9, 2012 at 6:15 pmIt’s not random that’s for sure but I’ve found it is worse with certain types of footage such as Cineform and also what format you’re rendering to…

February 9, 2012 at 6:17 pmThis is huge! I’ve uninstalled my New Blue stuff for now and things are better. Couldn’t even OPEN 32 bit Vegas until I uninstalled.

February 9, 2012 at 6:44 pm…Vegas Pro 11 64-bit (build 521) is crashing and I, along with what appears to be many other users, don’t want to invest in the time to find a workaround (for Sony) to an obvious number of programming bo-bos. Especially on our dime/time.
Me, I don’t want to handicap my PC, just to see if Vegas can stay alive long enough for me to accomplish, what should be, freak’n’ simple task.
*** The only thing I can think of people that would be simple to try, is to keep uninstalling and re-installing the application. After each uninstall, clean your PC’s registry and trash any Vegas Pro 11 leftovers to help insure a clean re-installation. ***
That should take about five (5) minutes. A small investment of time. ~Monte

February 9, 2012 at 6:50 pm…NewBlue definitely seems to be part of my problem. I created a simple, five (5) second title – text credits fade-in and out. And any time I try to edit the the damn thing, to create a 2nd title with the same components, down she goes taking Vegas with it. Crap.

February 9, 2012 at 7:02 pm“Steve, are you not seeing any of these issues? I’m curious if this is random or if there are a great number of us that have this problem.”
No. I and many other users aren’t seeing these problems. Every software release snares a few users with new problems, and after years of complaints that “Vegas doesn’t use the GPU”, SCS finally rewrote the code to use GPU support. So, this release of Vegas Pro is catching more users with problem PCs. Be careful what you wish for.
I have Vegas running on three workstations and a laptop. If an issue is limited to one PC, then the problem is in that PC – NOT A BUG!
I have one PC that reliably crashes while running Vegas Pro 11 – if I open the F/X window twice. None of my other PCs do this, so I am looking at that PC’s hardware and drivers for the solution. I do NOT expect SCS to fix my PC.
Suggesting that you run Vegas with GPU support turned off is only a troubleshooting technique to isolate the cause of a problem.
