    Taking a class is the best possible way, short of that, I also reccomend the Peachpit Apple Pro Training Series (this is what we use for certification-oriented classes):

    https://www.peachpit.com/store/browse.aspx?st=60902

    and Lynda.com is a great resource as well.

    I know Quicktime will allow multiple audio tracks, however I’ve never had to use this feature.

    In your export dialog, under “Setting” there’s a menu called “include”. Select Video Only and you’re golden, pretty basic.

    You can then solo and export the audio tracks in other passes, or do it a little faster in STP.

    Motion has a filter under Stylize called “bad TV”; plenty of parameters for you to tweak.

  • Quick and Dirty: Create it in PhotoShop and have a mask wipe it on from Left to Right.

    Update:

    I mentioned I was suspect that the problem lied in my trying to reconnect to a reference movie. Last night I rendered out that QT Ref as self-contained, this morning everything reconnects to the new QT as it should.

    Don’t know why it didn’t work with the QT Ref, but thought I would share the fix (and elation that I don’t need to recut half the show 😉

    I thought this had been fixed – turns out the media is now available in ONE of the THREE seqs it’s used in, but even though it plays in the Canvas, Item Properties indicate it as an offline clip (“missing”)

    Perhaps this is just too much for my system? Since it’s all SD NTSC with just a few HDV inserts, I wouldn’t think so.

    July 24, 2008 at 8:32 pm in reply to: Final Cut Pro & Pro Tools…WAV

    Sheesh, you could use iTunes to do the conversion from AIFF (and I think you CAN output a WAV from FCP, can’t you? – not in front of my system right now), but I have to agree with the majority of posts here, something smells really fishy about the complaint from your sound dept.

    And if they haven’t figured out how to convert AIFFs to WAVs, well, that speaks volumes as well.

  • Sounds like things are hanging? Just a guess, but do you have “Multiclip Playback” checked in your RT settings?

    1. Double-click clip to open in viewer,

    2. Choose Modify -> Timecode
