    Hi All,

My search has turned up some references to folks losing source files after round-tripping to STP but I haven’t seen any helpful responses. I’ve got a large project (28+ minutes, collapsed 2-camera multicam source) I finished a mix on and when I reopened FCP to import my mixes and do the layback, one half of the media (all from the same master clip) is offline.

I figured not a BIG DEAL because I can still find it in the Finder, but when I go to reconnect the media I get this message:

Some attributes of one or more of the files you have chosen do not match the attributes of the original. This may cause problems within the sequences that are dependent on them. The attributes that differed are as follows:

-Number of audio or video tracks

Would you like to try to connect them again?

If I decide to “continue” with this process I get asked the same question for every edit in every sequence where a clip from the source in question is used. I say “OK” to each instance and still end up with “Media Offline”.

To potentially further complicate things, the clip I’m trying to bring back is a QT Ref made up of about 8 MOV files from a FireStore (did this to expedite the multicam edit). The ref file plays just fine.

Any thoughts? I’ll continue to search but am just stumped as to why this won’t “connect”. Additionally, I’m assuming it is NOT a corrupted project file because I get the same issue when trying from a backup of the project from a different drive and even from an autosave from last week. I May cross-post this in the STP forum as well.

    Help – and thanks!

I thought this had been fixed – turns out the media is now available in ONE of the THREE seqs it’s used in, but even though it plays in the Canvas, Item Properties indicate it as an offline clip (“missing”)

Perhaps this is just too much for my system? Since it’s all SD NTSC with just a few HDV inserts, I wouldn’t think so.

    Update:

I mentioned I was suspect that the problem lied in my trying to reconnect to a reference movie. Last night I rendered out that QT Ref as self-contained, this morning everything reconnects to the new QT as it should.

Don’t know why it didn’t work with the QT Ref, but thought I would share the fix (and elation that I don’t need to recut half the show 😉
