I had this exact same problem: deleted audio would still play as if it were still there. Took several restarts to finally correct.

  • Chris… that’s hysterical… !!

OK… I think I’ve figured out a fit to fill. First make a selection of the video to fit and add marker(s) to the audio. Using the position tool drag it to the in point marker of the audio. Then using the retiming tool drag the clip to fit the desired audio. This will automatically scale the timing to fit. Check out the available quality selections of the retime tool: optical flow is available and rendered quickly on my test. If you are trying to fit a clip between 2 other video clips, place the new video on a track above them, otherwise the retiming will ripple everything.

Just my method so far. Your mileage may vary.

Slight clarification… much of the monitor use will be on “studio acquisition,” so size and cost, while important, are not the main requirements: the shooter wants to be confident that footage displayed on the monitor will be what it really looks like in post so he doesn’t have to spend a lot of time “fixing it.”

Thanks for the input from all. I am doing this query for a fellow who comes from 35mm film background and is considering the D5 as an additional tool.

Think you mean Areca instead of Acera. My vote is NOT for any HighPoint product. Support is non existent!

I use Episode with no problems… and our Dallas DG office requires an additional 16 lines of VBI in addition and that’s supported in Episode. They do indeed require 4:2:2.

If you have to, you can edit a preset to fit your needs, rename it and save for futures. There should be a “Program Streams” file inside of the Mpeg-2 preset folder.

Also be sure when adding the marker you add it as a “chapter marker” or else you will see a marker in the timeline but it won’t export.

If your in and out points are properly set, is it possible that some short clip is in the viewer and selected in the timeline? Nothing in the timeline should be selected when exporting or that’s only what gets exported.

What firmware are you using with the RR? My Enhance box with the 4322 will not mount the first time I boot… but shows up on reboot.

  • Can you control the deck when in log and capture? If so, are you setting in and out points for the material you want to capture. Have you used this setup to capture before?
