The best answer that I am finding is to upgrade to MC 3.5 and then you can use all the files natively without having to import them – saving space on your drives. 350 GB? That’s a lot of footage! You will need to down convert or transcode your HD shots on the timeline to SD before doing a digital cut to tape. Good luck,

I love Media Mover – 3.1 is really fast for backing up projects from Avid on my Mac. I can’t seem to get an answer whether 3.1 will work on Leopard and Media Composer 3.5?

You should go to https://voice123.com/ It is a free service for producers to find talent and they are all negotiable – you will find great talent with their own studios – they will edit and post the VOs at no extra cost. There are very top-notch people there of every dialect and age.

I am updating my own post – after viewing the Avid Knowledge Base – I see that you cannot export mixed resolutions of 1:1 and DV25 unless you check “Use Avid DV codec”. With this checked, the QT export worked fine. I wish the error message told me that. I still have issues with the reference movie so, should I use a different “offline” resolution than DV25?
Thanks again. -
I find that the add dissolve (or quick transition) beeps at me too but, its usually “operator error” – you have to be very aware of which of your tracks are highlighted and where you are on the timeline. You can’t have two video tracks highlighted – it will beep at you.

I just started using the Avid a month ago but, in answer to your question, you can raise the overall output of your program to +6 in the audio settings>audio project>output menu.
My audio issue is with the MCA on my G5. All my digital audio files, aifs, that I used with my Media100 in the past are coming in extremely hot in the Avid. Also, any new files that I import. I get original music or narration, from an audio studio, as an mp3, I export it as an aif in Quick Time Pro to the specs I’m using in Avid (stereo or mono at 48k). After importing into the Avid, I need to lower these clips -15db using the Mix Tool before I edit them into the timeline. You can see on the Energy Plot that they are still very pumped (see mostly white and little detail) – they sound okay but, this doesn’t seem right. The other elements in the program are talking heads and ambience that I bring in from BetaSP. These levels all look normal and when I do a digital cut to tape – the levels are perfect. I’m using the default setting of -20db allowing peaks to hit -8. Is this a bug?
Thanks,
Nancy -

Thanks for trying. -

January 23, 2006 at 10:43 pm in reply to: Is there a way to Convert Media 100 BINS and TIMELINES to AVID Adrenaline?Sounds like another Media100 to MCA convert. I just switched two weeks ago. If you buy the OMF support package through Media100 I believe you’ll be all set. Its $495 so, I haven’t purchased it yet – I’ll wait to see if I have a need. You could also try Automatic Duck – they’ve got great stuff depending on what version your Media100 software is. We bought that so I can output timelines from the Avid to another Apple G5 using After Effects.
