  • A couple more questions:

Does the camera stay still? Or does it move around?

Do you have a compositing app? (After Effects, Combustion…or other)

How much time do you have to do it?

Have you ever done character animation spec. lip sync?

I believe you hold ctrl + alt + shift as you launch photoshop this should reset your settings to default… which may clear the problem

    I could be wrong…

[free_beast] “I’m not seeing a marked improvement over my P4 lappy regarding rendering times, etc.. Although I imagine there should be…”

Out of what you have listed the only things that are going to help AEs render performance is the RAM and the processor… if you want better render performance drop the quality or increase the number of processors rendering a given project.

Maybe in the future the GPU will be used for rendering out finals but not at the moment.

for the other questions some more detail on your AE settings would help…

did you try reseting photoshop? using the key combo when you launch the application?

did you try deleting the prefs or running plutil?

or you can always reinstall that might be faster…

Are you only having the problem when dragging the image onto the icon?

If so then just open it up with the open command in Photoshop… if that doesn’t work try opening it in Preview and see if that works… if so then try resaving in the same format if you can if not.. try reloading the image onto your computer.

I didn’t see it but I would guess it was something like this:

It probably was 3D tiger from the inside that was tracked onto the video footage and they may have gone as far as to roto out the orignal tiger after matching the motion and placing a clean plate to fill in and comping in the insides of the tiger.

The issue is that you are running all adobe applications in an emulation env. until 2007 when adobe releases the intel versions of their software. So as you can guess the performance in OSX is not as good as it will be. Of course whether it works for you is a matter of what type of work you are doing and how complex it is. I would imagine that BootCamp would run it faster on windows then in OSX but then again I haven’t tried it.
