How is Super Duper going to know whats on the 1st Disk when doing the 2nd?

The short answer is no. You need proper backup software and LTO Tape drive.

Do incremental backups to Tape daily.

    Why goto disk ?

Why not buy 2 drobos and use ChronoSync to SYNC them every hour ?

    There are loads of options.

but 1st make sure you can get enough speed to edit off the Drobo!

  • If you loose a drive in RAID5 you do NOT have to reformat if the rebuild is successful. That would be RAID0

PAGE 20 for replacing a disk.
    https://www.lacie.com/download/manual/4big_Quadra_en.pdf

    Blinking red/blue/red/blue says heat issue.

Looking at manual there is no RAID application just a switch on the unit so I suspect it will AUTO rebuild.

Make sure you replace exactly like for like – Manufacture / Model / Capacity – Firmware should match but you maybe ok.

    Hope that help.

    Ok-

If you load ALL your media – then import an XML and do not select import media it will use ANY media that matches thats already in the MEDIA POOL to link to your xml timeline

If you load NO media prior to loading XML and select IMPORT media to media pool it will try and link to any media it can find and warn at the end of import what it cannot find.

One reason to not import is a offline proxy workflow.
IE you shoot RAW – Transcode to ProresProxy for the edit. Export an XML. Impoer XML to Resolve with DONT IMPORT selected. Then you load up the raw rushes and it links to those rather than the proresproxy.

There are loads of other options like force conforming and conform from folders.

You could have 2 folders in media pool. All the media imported from XML ProresProxy. and another folder in media pool you manually imported RAW into.

you can then conform from the RAW folder rather than the one containing Prores.

The ghost clips as you call them are clips that are in the timeline but have no media for them in the MEDIA POOL

    you say
    – however if I load the original clip in the mediepool (with the correct reel name) and change the attributes – it affect the clip that links to the xml-imported clip.

    reply
If you then load a clip that is used in the xml timeline loaded with DONT IMPORT into the media pool it will automatically link to that imported media.

REEL Names seem not to come across with a FCPX XML but I have never really had linking issues.
When in FCPX are the reel names in the metadata then ? If not then they won’t be exported.

Can I use a usb drive as 2nd volume using that command?

    All one command?

Will it hose the areca or just need a restart?

So if I attach a usb3 1tb drive to another port on newmacpro and copy 1TB from the 8050 to it the 8050 would in theory overheat?

Or is this just streaming to tape using Bru? Archiware has a sw buffer that fills then streams. Is Bru similar?

Wouldn’t say Areca are cheap compared to Highpoint.

Surprised by this. Have 2 of the 8050T2 units and they have been great. The drives on the other hand! 🙂

How can an LTO6 mech pull data that a 900MBs+ raid can’t handle with ease ?

I know with Archiware P5 Backup the sw has a buffer. Do these apps not ?

Or is it that if you pull a steady streams from the 8050T2’s the raid card just overheats ? Surely thats not right :-/

So a Mac mini with an 8050T2 and an MTape daisy chained off the back of the 8050 is a no no ? And no manufacture is stating this compatibility issue?
