I agree David.
Adobe needs to tell us what features they are planning and what date they are aiming for release.
I’m sitting on the fence with 3 or four suites to replace and knowing that an update with some of the shortcomings fixed was going to happen in September might push me to Adobe…lack of communication might push me to FCP or something.
I can keep quite Adobe. Tell me!

Thanks
I’ll keep lurking here and borrow a demo a board when the fix is announced. I’m hoping that both Decklink and Axio can read the same native dv25 sources off a server, and uncompressed and renders I’ll store local in the suite….maybe I’ll do one Axio, three Decklink or two Axio and two Decklink.
Axio will do a ton of SD realtime layers (someone said they demoed 16? realtime layers) for packaging our show, and Decklink will do fine for i/o and monitoring for longform story and doc work.
BTW what software are you cutting with on PC? We are still on discreet Edit and have found nothing Mac or PC that we like as well, but the software was discontinued 3 years ago so we need to move on.

Thanks Rayk, but the reverse field order didn’t solve it, it doesn’t seem to do anything, and I had to return the card to the dealer.
The board seems otherwise excellent. We may buy a few yet, but I need to know it is going to work seemless with the shared footage from other systems and that is likely going to be Adobe’s native dv.avi…the stuff it seems to reverse the fields on.

Pro50 support is absent on PPRO via firewire. You can capture SDI with a Black Magic card or something or you can add a Axio card from Matrox and use it’s firewire connection (at great expense).
Other PC software you can use Edius (with extra $ codecs) or Avid DV express (I think)or Pinacle Liquid Broadcast (I think). One of the codec companies, MainConcept I think, sell a PC DV50 codec, but I haven’t found anything that will capture with it.
Adobe is shooting their product in the foot by not supplying the Pro50 and Pro100 codecs, especially with the Panasonic P2 products coming along. I think they blame windows but they are big enough to solve it without Bill Gates.

>>>But an SDI DVCproHD dub will degrade the picture. Ony a firewire dub will keep the integrity of the footage.
Right
If you feel you need to go to HD100 tape dub from your camera firewire to an HD1200 with the firewire option.
But
Does the contract say videotape??? It’s all just data, why not use a P2 card reader in a computer with a tape backup. It might be cheaper.

If the Avid codec works with Premiere, can you purchase the codec separately?

July 15, 2005 at 3:52 pm in reply to: Any word on DVCPRO HD on a P2 card to edit in PPro?This is one place where apple/final cut seem to be well ahead. I don’t know what is with Adobe and Panasonic. There isn’t even a DVCPro50 codec for capturing via firewire. I’m looking at Axio in part because it will handle Pro50.

I’m sure they will get there, plus they need to handle DVCPro100.
They’ve really aimed this product at broadcasters where “realtime” needs to be realtime…none of this keeping your eyelids open with toothpicks while printing to tape in case there is a glitch, and having to render clips from other codecs before you can use them “realtime”.
We’ve been running Digisuites for 6 years now and if this generation of boardset does what it advertises Adobe Premiere may finally be “Pro”.

Thanks for the info. Are the bluefish RT fx all processor driven or are they done by the cardset like Matrox does on Axio.
