Hi,
I often used the 3D Lapidary objects. some of them are great.
The trick is that you have to create your own reflection map to get a realistic look. Don’t use the Invigorator presets!
Here is an example for you on how you could create the reflection map:

Hi,
I don’t want to be a kill joy, it’s just that these keyboards exist since a long time.
Just Google for them and you will certainly find many.

Hi Jeff,
Try this simple method:
-Duplicate your layer.
-Apply the “Channel Mixer” effect to the top later and check the “Monochrom” box
-Apply now CC Plastic still to the top layer, play with the Cut Min, Height parameters & especially light!
-Set the transfer mode to Luminosity
This should give you a very close look.

Hi,
Send me your aep without including maps etc… at (serge at nyc-visual dot com)
The feature is very powerful but you have to respect some basic steps to avoid nightmares;-)
I will soon release a new tutorial on this.
Here is an example using this great feature (Warning! don’t follow the link if you don’t have a ton of humor or are in company of under 18)

Hi,
I don’t really understand what is going wrong. You should be able to load the transparency map without any problem. I apologize if I am stating the obvious here, but did you drag and drop your material on your “Selected” object in the scene preview window or in the material palette?
Shoot me an e-mail with your project at (serge at nyc-visual dot com)
As to how I created the map, I simply used the layer mapping technique that allows me (when using a two comp view) to draw my map in one comp and see the result taking effect on my object in the second comp view.
I explained in details many different tricks on how you can perfectly map an object in IP/PA in the training DVD but generally you have to understand that objects (Depending on their form) have different mapping coordinates (Spherical, Cylindrical,Planar etc…) and understanding how Invigorator/PA maps the faces and edge of an object is as important. Make a search in this forum and you will find many tips on mapping;-)

Hi,
I responded to this post an hour ago but something must have gone wrong.
Here is an example for you on how your transparency map could look like in case you decide to to go for the egg form:
https://www.nyc-visual.com/Holy_Egg.zipYou will find an ZXO object and the necessary maps in the zip.
It is easier to create such kind of maps in PA for AE as the layer-mapping technique gives you more control.
Going back and forth between PS & PA may take for ever! Especially when you are dealing with a spherical map.
Looks like this:

Hi,
I think that the “Render Multiple Frames Simultaneously” feature in AE CS3 has to be disabled to eliminate your issue.
Matt, could you confirm?
Salut,
