3D Diamond
Posted by Dan Lacloche on December 19, 2007 at 2:25 amI searched in the zaxwerks forum for a way to create a 3D diamond in AE. What’s the best way? I don’t really have a 3D program. I do have Vue 5, but I’ve never used it. If I could find an animation of a diamond rotating, I could fake the 3D because the camera in AE never moves.
Ideas?
Thanks.

December 19, 2007 at 3:39 amThe best way is to buy one from a place that sells royalty-free meshes, like this one:
https://www.the3dstudio.com/product_details.aspx?id_product=13999Pick a format that’s compatible with Invig, that is, one that Invig can import.
Googling “royalty-free” “diamond” and “3D” might get you somewhere. Maybe add “DXF”.

December 19, 2007 at 9:33 pmHi,
I often used the 3D Lapidary objects. some of them are great.
The trick is that you have to create your own reflection map to get a realistic look. Don’t use the Invigorator presets!
Here is an example for you on how you could create the reflection map:

December 19, 2007 at 11:42 pmDigital Juice has a free download of a diamond rotating. I’m not sure if it is exactly what you are looking for. But it’s free.
