February 29, 2008 at 6:36 pm in reply to: Applying Zaxwerks Camera Moves to AE Comp CameraHi John,
I would advise you to create planes inside of PA and map them with your AE layers. This way all your objects will intersect perfectly with each other, your shadows (If any) will also work.
Now if you are willing to play a little:
-Save your PA scene (File>Save Scene)then import this scene into AE.-When you open the Imported PA Comp you will find a camera layer named “PA Camera” It should contain all the moves you tweaked in PA which is what you are after.
The comp will also contain null objects/layers representing all your PA 3D objects.-Now you could copy your “PA Camera” layer and paste it in your main comp. BUT remember that although both cameras will have the same behavior they both work in different 3D worlds so your objects won’t intersect.
I hope this may help.

Hi,
3D Warps from Zaxwerks would do the trick and more.
Here is an example:

Hi James,
I don’t use 3DS but what you need to make sure is that you are exporting your object including the UV coordinates.
If this doesn’t help, you could send me the object (serge at nyc-visual dot com) I am sure we could make it work.

February 21, 2008 at 9:12 pm in reply to: bringing textures into ProAnimator with 3D objectHi,
PA & Invigorator can import 3D objects but no maps. You need to create a brick-wall map and apply it to your object inside of PA.

Hi Donovan,
Please click on my mugshot to find the Custom Edges tutorial.
The stripes for your pins are not part of the Illustrator custom edge. You must create them in your texture map.
Best would be for you to use the Layer Mapping technique.
Create a new comp 500 X 500 for instance, add a red solid layer and draw two rectangular masks to create your horizontal stripes.
Now use this comp as a layer map to texture your object. You must assign this layer map to the edge of your bowling pin of course. To perfectly align your stripes all you need to do is work with a two comp view (One showing the Invigorator comp and the other your texture)
Move your stripes (Masks)to place them as you like.Salut,

Hi Judy,
A Custom Edge applied to a tinny little circle would give you the roundness. But building the heart in a 3D program would give you a greater looking shape. You could then import the object in to PA.
Check this heart:
https://www.nyc-visual.com/Heart3.movI created it using Maya. If you like it I will be glad to send it to you including a UV map to place your text etc…

Yup! That’s it.
I stopped using the multi processing feature because of that and warned about this problem a while ago. You may also loose frames in projects that are not using Invigorator.

February 13, 2008 at 9:39 pm in reply to: Bubble Glass look on front face of object? How?Hi everyone,
The glass buttons are actually easy to create in PA/IP.
Donovan was almost in the right path;-)Here is what you need to do:
-Create an oval shape in IL and import it into PA.
-Create a tinny circle in IL (1 X 1) open this one too in PA.
-Now apply first the edge of your choice to the oval shape and adjust the depth of your object as you wish.
-Select your tinny circle and apply to it the edge named “Round quarter”. This will give you a lens kind of object on top of your oval shape.
-To adjust it to the oval shape you need to open the Stats menu and reduce the Y & Z Axis values. Reduce the Z value way more then the Y.
-Create a subtle reflection map for the front face of your lens object and reduce the transparency of the material to your liking.
-Create also a second map for the front face of your oval shape. Distorting this map a little would help to sell the refractive look. A vignette created using a feathered mask on a black solid on top of your texture map would accentuate the bulge look.
Last but not least, you need to play with your highlight sharpness & brightness for each map. For instance the oval map material could have an “Absolute Color” etc…
Here is an example I quickly created to illustrate what I am describing here:

February 1, 2008 at 6:08 pm in reply to: Object Pivot Point (Master Series tutorial question for Serge)Hi Frank,
Tracks in ProAnimator do not behave like Invigorator’s sets as you already noticed.
Until today you can’t manipulate the pivot point of your objects in ProAnimator. Would be a great feature to add to this program!
Maybe Zax or Matt would surprise us soon;-)
