Perhaps you can rip them from inside Vegas?

My point is that Vegas 8 includes DVD Architect. Vegas 6 OEM does not. Not sure if it will be considered an upgrade path. You should get your answer from Sony soon enough in any case. Hope for the best!

OK, I did this with the Vegas 6 OEM from B&H back in version at version 7. I had bought the version 6 from B&H and then I contacted Sony for the free upgrade. I did get it, however, after I was accepted (the next day as a matter of fact), here is what appereared on Sony’s website.
Not sure if purchasing the upgrade will be any different. There was also a discussion about that it this thread.

Why don’t you try to capture using the software from Pinnacle? As long as it is done in AVI, then you can just import into Vegas after the capture.

Especially with Vegas 8, you can work at 8, 16 or 32 bits, so really there is no “loss” between render if used in 16 or 32 bit mode.

I’ve also been told that changing the “Full resolution rendering quality” in the project property to “best” might improve images especially bigger ones. Of course, I can’t recall where I heard it from… so I can’t swear by it… 🙂

The difficulty is that there is panning of the camera. The movement makes it much harder to have accurate mask following the persons.

The only way I can think of is stack up all the shots one on top of the other with a few seconds apart for each person and then use mask to isolate each copy for the background.
That’s my suggestion…

I don’t know about the VASST tool you mentioned. If you have short movie and plenty of room on your DVD, then PCM uncompress 48khz audio will be best. If you want to save some space, set the audio as AC3. I’ve never had any bad audio issue with any of them.
You might want to check that your audio levels are not too high. Check the master level of your audio in your project(at least -10). Sometime the sound is ok on the computer, but when played on a tv set, the audio will distort if set too high.

Yep, just unlink the Video from the Audio track on your event (U) and then the two can be moved independently.
