Can sound continue from one clip while another vid clip is seen
Posted by Larry Parker on December 1, 2007 at 9:20 pmI don’t know what term to search for in Sony Vegas help. But what I want instructions for is how to keep the sound from the previous video clip continuing, while another muted video is playing for a few seconds.

December 2, 2007 at 1:16 amYep, just unlink the Video from the Audio track on your event (U) and then the two can be moved independently.

December 2, 2007 at 4:23 amOK, but I dont see “unlink” on the main screen, in any dropdown menu, and “unlink” doesn’t even show up in a search of the “help” file. So can you tell me how to unlink the audio from a video? I should mention that I just have the free trial version of Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 8.0

December 2, 2007 at 4:32 amNote: the following steps are for the full version of Vegas.
Movie Studio may not have these options.Click either the audio or video event and press the U (for Ungroup) key.
Adjust as desired.
To regroup, select one, hold down the Shift key and select the other and then press the G (for Group) key.
There may also be a timeline icon labeled “Ignore Event Grouping” that does the same thing. -

December 2, 2007 at 5:34 amThanks a lot. I am now able to get the “b-roll” video included by adding another video track timeline and deleting the sound. Obviously I am brand new at video editing. This Vegas program seems to me as difficult to learn as Photoshop would be.

December 11, 2007 at 5:13 ami used avid and premiere pro, then thought to myself, what the heck am i doing, after using vegas for two hours i fell in love.
Its the simplest, most straight forward program on the market today. Not only is it easy to learn, but its features are just as good as the “industry standards”. In fact, vegas has the best
audio capabilities than avid and fcp which cost more and have a deeper learning curve. And by the way, photoshop has more whistles and buttons than all the NLE’S put together.
you cant compare photoshop (an image, animation program) to vegas (An NLE). Apples and oranges.
