It’s a pity you are shooting in 4:3 as to make the anamorphic you are going to have to enlarge the image as opposed to cropping it. If it’s not too late I would strongly recommend switching to a 16:9 acquisition format.

October 4, 2005 at 10:36 pm in reply to: How do you make the time line scoll along with the play-cursor?Here’s what I do guys. I’ve mapped “OPTION+” and “OPTION-” to my microsoft mouses’ scroll wheel.
This zooms in and out on the timeline. When a large timeline is playing I just zoom out a little and then zoom in
a little. Very handy when watching a very long piece. I mainly do docos and long tv shows so couldn’t live without this.
If you want to try this you will need to get Microsoft’s old driver as the new one doesn’t have the ability to map the scroll wheel. Email me if you’d like a copy.Cheers

September 30, 2005 at 12:08 pm in reply to: Can you set a default length for default transition? You add a transition to your timeline. Right click on it and set the duration to what you want.
Now drag that transition to a bin or browser. Right click on it and set it as your default transition.
Viola! I do this especially with audio dissolves. Like 6 framers for getting rid of digital clicks.
The other nice thing you can do is drag a bunch of these different time to a bin.
I always create a bin in every project I do called SpecialFX where I dump all my favourite stuff.
Things like dissolves called: 4 framer, 6 framer, 12 framer etc. when you want to do a bunch of 6 frame
dissolves just go to that bin and set it as the default.Hope that helps.

September 29, 2005 at 3:39 am in reply to: Pink Ringing around text with uncompressed 10 bit.I started in the decklink forum and have found several people with the same problem. I’m beginning to suspect that it might be because the files are on top of an animated graphic saved with the animation codec. It’s not just text but ANY effects placed over the animation. They either disappear or get the green and pink splodges. I don’t think it is the Decklink as they just use the Apple Uncompressed codecs as do AJA.This system is as clean as a whistle as it is practically brand new. Dual 2.7, 4.5 gig of ram tonnes of fast HD space. Working flawlessly until now. This project started life as a JPEG 50 offline and saw no problems with any video so it’s definitely a 10 Bit rendering issue.
SO. Could someone techincally minded tell me the pros and cons of rendering in RGB over 8 Bit? I do notice that I seem to get more real time fx with RGB?!?

September 28, 2005 at 11:20 am in reply to: Pink ringing on Boris Text with Stretch transition.OK so what are peoples thoughts on rendering in either RGB or 8 Bit? I would have thought RGB 10 Bit would be better?

September 27, 2005 at 10:00 pm in reply to: Pink ringing on Boris Text with Stretch transition.Thanks. Glad at least to see that I am not alone. I have found that rendering in RGB fixes the problem.
Also the text is over an Animation file. I wonder if that is also part of the problem. I will do some tests just using straight video and see. Oh and this is PAL we are talking about here. Don’t know if that makes a difference. -

September 27, 2005 at 4:07 am in reply to: Pink ringing on Boris Text with Stretch transition. It’s not just a Boris issue. I think I have found a temporary solution. If I render in 8 BIt all is well. If I render in 10 Bit RGB all looks normal as well. Which would you suggest I go with here. This item is for broadcast internationally.

September 27, 2005 at 3:48 am in reply to: Pink ringing on Boris Text with Stretch transition. No the compression is just from making it a JPEG. The imge in the timeline is clean as a whistle.
I am also having another MAJOR problem. Some of my images have the double border filter on them.
If I render them the border disappears! This is a really big problem as I have to deliver this online very
soon. Please help if you can. -
To load a Quick Setup hit CONTROL Q and pick the Blackmagic preset that suites your workflow.
See if that does anything. It really does sound like there is a mismatch somewhere. -
Are you loading up the quick setups? Maybe you have a hardware issue?
