OK i know how to set default transtion, but how do you set a default length for the default transition. 1 second is just too long for my purposes.

Create a transition with the duration you want. Add it to your favorites bin. Map that to your keyboard (one of the F-keys).

I did this for my audio and video transitions. I still wish that it would to one default dissole transition for both audio and video, like an Avid. But, this ain’t an Avid….

You add a transition to your timeline. Right click on it and set the duration to what you want.
Now drag that transition to a bin or browser. Right click on it and set it as your default transition.
Viola! I do this especially with audio dissolves. Like 6 framers for getting rid of digital clicks.
The other nice thing you can do is drag a bunch of these different time to a bin.
I always create a bin in every project I do called SpecialFX where I dump all my favourite stuff.
Things like dissolves called: 4 framer, 6 framer, 12 framer etc. when you want to do a bunch of 6 frame
dissolves just go to that bin and set it as the default.

    Hope that helps.
