  • I would bet that entire apartment is a 3D environment.

  • [Matt Sowder] “the far off shot where the truck is swerving you see the sloshing liquid a bit too well to be actually driving with that…”

In that case, I’ll bet there was a thin layer of clear plexiglas just behind the windshield. The space between the windshield and the plexiglas was then filled with a beer-like substance that you see sloshing around. Otherwise, the truck would be way too heavy to maneuver like that if it was actually filled with liquid. That’s how I would have done it, anyway.

[Michael Munkittrick] “More than likely, that is the term for video that has been specifically compressed to an mp4 format for playback on an iPod. Aside from that, I’ve no idea what would make a video non-pod friendly.”

You’re right on the money. Pod-friendly videos mean they’re ready for the video iPod without any extra compression steps. An example of a non-Pod-friendly video would be a video in an incompatible format or resolution that that would first need conversion before it could be watched on an iPod.

In the latest beta release of Apple’s BootCamp app, you can choose OS X, Windows XP, and now Linux. So, a PC that only does Windows or a Mac that does all three? Granted, you could already dual-boot Ubuntu Linux on a Mac, but never before could you do all three with one application. Having said that, however, you would be smart to wait for whatever Steve has up his sleeve at WWDC.

[Franktatu] “Try to reinstall the program, remove it from you machine, then go to C:/Programfiles/Adobe and delete the After Effects folder, reboot you machine and reinstall the program.”

Before you go this far, just try deleting After Effects’ preferences file, usually found here if you’re on a PC:

    C:\Documents and Settings\USER NAME\Application Data\Adobe\After Effects\Prefs

If you’re on a Mac, it should be in somewhere in Library/Application Support/Adobe

Whenever something wonky happens with After Effects, that’s the first place I look. If you make regular backups of your prefs, then you won’t lose anything if they get corrupted.

  • [Pharhaan] “I need video clips which have blue or green background so they could be easily keyed”

That’s asking an awful lot. I don’t know of a single place online that offers free chromakey footage, but if you find one, let us know. You could always roto your subject out of some of the public domain footage found at archive.org. It’d be a lot more work, but if you’re looking for free stuff, that’s your best bet.

As for the music, go to creativecommons.org and search their archives. Make sure to note what usage rights are when downloading music, as some can be used for commmercial projects and some can’t.

If all you want is pixelated footage, use the “mosaic” effect.

I once had to do something very similar to what the OP is descibing. In addition to corner pin, I keyed out the blue in the “reflected” sky layer, then set it to screen mode. The result was very nice.

    Seconded!
