thanks for your interest. here’s what i’m trying to do:

i have a shape imported from illustrator. i’ve extruded it, and added a gradient color texture. i’m trying to add a slither of light that runs just down the extruded section of the object, on top of the color. a simple white band would be great. i just need to figure out how to add it to just the extruded section, and how to animate its position… does that make any sense? any ideas?

    ok, so bear with me:

i have an extruded object that at the moment have a gradient color material applied to it. i make the object editable, i select the side/extruded panel… then i’m stumped. how do i apply a strip of light on top of the color gradient?

thanks for your patience, i’ll look for the c4d cafe tut you mentioned. i obviously need to understand the whole texture projection thing better…

March 18, 2011 at 9:15 pm in reply to: C4D won’t render all objects in scene

i’m rendering at the moment which will take another 12 hrs, but i’ll attempt to describe it:

    C4D version 11.5
scene: i’m exploding (with explosion FX) a sphere with a polygon displacement texture. i’m attempting to insert an object ‘inside’ the sphere so it can be seen as the sphere breaks apart. it looks fine in the single frame preview render at any stage of the explosion, but the inserted object will not render when i render ALL the frames as an animation, until all the polygons from the exploded sphere have cleared the screen. does this make any sense? i can upload the scene tomorrow, but i’m hoping someone has come across this before, and it’s just a matter of clicking a box…

    thanks in advance!

nope. i can’t get the object to respond to the explosion fx. thrausi doesn’t work either. it must be something to do with the way this object is constructed… if you get a chance to look at the file i’d be very grateful. here’s the link (hopefully i’ve done this right)

    many thanks in advance.

    hi adam,

could i ask (read beg) you to do another one of your super simple video tutorials to explain how to attach sound effector to these displacement maps? i’ve tried to follow the .c4d file you uploaded but without some kind of basic explanation i’m completely stumped… anyway happy holidays to you sir.

    adam

is there any chance you could do one of your super clear video tutorials of this technique (like you did for me with transitioning between textures) if you get the time?

you’d make me a very happy chappy. you are the C4d guru…

    happy holidays to you!
