Yes, some players work better with +R others -R, sometimes a firmware upgrade for the DVD may help. Check on your manufacture’s website, I have downloaded some before with success.
Good Luck

November 23, 2009 at 12:30 am in reply to: Rendering stops and freezes Vegas at one hour?I;m not sure why you are using a CBR, VBR should be fine and if you have enough room on a DVD for that. If you are planning on using menus and such, download a bitrate calculator to find out your settings. There will be a minimum, average and top setting in the video settings. Good luck!

November 17, 2009 at 4:09 pm in reply to: long time Vegas user but cant fix terrible preview performance in 9cVegas 9 is a pain, after all the good versions, sony really has a dud…I have had so many issues with this version and cannot go back to 8 because all my new projects are in 9. I really hope they get the video preview, rendering and other issues resolved soon or I may start looking at another NLE. To bad too, I have been with vegas since version 4!!

I use PNG files and they are at 300 dpi and often around 15 mb in size. They look awesome everywhere but dvda. I do have better luck with doing full motion video backgrounds than pictures. Mind you they look good, just not as good as a store bought dvd. The markers are really frustrating, it seems that it just does not see the markers I have place there before. I insert scene selection and then have it look for markers and they do not come up. If I open the same file in vegas…it shows them..just weird

See it would not allow me to burn the DVD without re-compressing. I am a little new to the calculator, so any input is helpful. At a certain point DVDA will not allow you to burn a disc if the size is too large

I don’t buy it, I have had this exact same system for over a year, using Vegas since version 7, then 8 now 9….it has only been since 9 that I have had this issue. I have always used XP pro and 4 gig of ram. This has to be a Vegas issue……unless I am missing something! Thanks for the input though!

So what should I set my project for? Also, what should I render it as 1920×1080 or 1440×1080..thanks for the explaination!!

I do this all the time for DVD covers, one trick is if you have Photoshop take the png file into that use the video filter to deinterlace the pic, use a small about of noise reduction “de-speckle” I think. That usually makes things useable. I will also change the files size in inches, making it half the size and almost doubling the dpi..this helps with some of the quality issue…if you do not have photoshop…..I’m not sure, hope this helps!

Thanks for your input…I have tried all this before and to no avail. I have 3 computers in my video suite and only one is on the internet and even has antivirus, the other two are strictly for video and optimized for video production. I have “saved as” to a new file with it re-writing all my used files to another folder after removing unused files and it still locks up. What’s really interesting is that I can render a 12 camera angle project with mercalli, neat video, color correction, pan crops and other f/x’s fine. When I then time-line all the videos (this is from a concert so I have 12 songs) and add titling it gives me the errors. I have kept all my renders in the native format (1440x1080i) and am trying to render to that format…absolutely weird! If I render to 720p or mpeg2 out of that timeline…no problem…I am at a loss!

Make sure your project is set to “Best” and not just “good.” Also, I have used a different and/or larger font to help with the jitter. If you have a sharpen filter on, it will also cause some as well. I used the new sharpen feature in 9, and it did add a little jitter.
