I have a Core 2 Quad 2.4 ghz, 4 gig RAM, with an MSI motherboard. I am looking to upgrade, but want to be sure to stick with Vegas before I do. I do a lot of multicam 5-20 camera angles and I DO NOT use the multicam feature but tracks with composite envelopes. You stated depends on source material…is it better with HDV 1080i? Thanks John!!

I would wait for Vegas 10 to come out and go through the forums here. I am also looking to buy a new system, but am waiting to see if Sony updated the previewing abilities in SV10. I am looking to see if it will utilize the GPU for previewing as well as rendering, and also if it does not, to see if it at least will use more than one cpu core (which is what it does now) for previewing. This will allow me to better choose my processor and video card…at least that is my suggestion…hope it helps

I add a TOUCH of sharpening (using Sony’s FX) and have kept some of the “sparkle” if you will. Be careful though if you are having interlacing issues. Try a short section and see if that helps!!! I always do this at the very end of my renders. Meaning, I render to 720p first then to MPEG 2 for DVD, at that stage I add my shapening…good luck!

Thanks John…I have Neat Video and will work with that…as far as jobs..these guys are my biggest client, and this audience stuff is always a concern. I do 2-3 full DVD projects with them per year and it is a lot of dough…Everything else with the shoots is great!! Also the lighting guy uses a lot of LED lights instead of incandescent lighting, they look awesome on stage, but I don’t think they throw as much back onto the audience. I will try shutter at 30 and gain up next time. Good point about noise vs no video…should have thought of that!! Really appreciate your input!

Be sure to go into the settings and change to 0 mb when you are rendering!!! If you have high settings (up to 1024mb) it will take longer to render your project. I do not know why Sony set it up this way, but if you have a long project that will take a while to render…make sure to change this before rendering. I also close out of Vegas and re-open it to make sure that the setting takes…it has not in the past…good luck!

So this is a Vegas issue? Could they develop their 32bit version to see more than 2gb?
