Color curves is my go to for level and brightness. I also use Secondary color corrector to make fine tune adjustments as well.

I have a hexacore AMD (1090t) SSD main drive and 8 gig of ram…hopefully speed is not an issue..

There are stereo wideners made by waves, PSP, and several other FX plug in companies. If you need to do it manually, if you have an actual mono wave file and Sound Forge, take it and select the Simple Delay effect, than you highlight one of the channels (left or right) and process it. It slightly delays that one channel and makes it sound more “stereo.”
If you totally need to do it more manually, duplicate the track in Vegas, than right click the first track and select “channels” and pick left. Now do the same for the duplicated track and instead of the left channel, select the right.
Use the panning control for each track and make one hard left one hard right. This now allows you to adjust each independently. Now be sure you have “ignore event grouping” clicked and EVER SO SLIGHTLY AND SLOWLY pick one of the tracks and move it ahead of the other, use your ear to adjust the effect. If you go to far, you will start to hear an “echo” if you will. If you can keep it within a few milliseconds (up to about 10-20, the ear does not perceive this as delay but a form of reverb. This creates as effect of mics picking up the signal at slightly different times for each side, much like it real life as our ears do.
If you need to get more than you can, try compressing each side slightly different or EQ them slightly different as well….Good luck!!Scott Francis

Can Vegas 10 play native D5 .mov files better than before? I think I may still have those, but see I don’t have Neoscene….an acquaintance of mine does and I have not had to deal with this before (as I usually shoot all my own video for clients) this was just for a 3 min intro that another photographer shot and were really cool that the client wanted to use….oh well if not, I will just see if it is worth it to buy it….

I always look for service manuals online as well…I have been able to repair my FX1 and an FX7 in the past with a service manual…that is if you feel comfortable with electronics.

I would say bigger between 8&9 than 9&10, but 10 (for me at this point) is a little more stabler and runs WAY quicker and MUCH better preview.

Try to reset it, there should be a small reset button somewhere on it, sometimes I have seen them under a small panel that may need to be removed. I did this with out a battery in it and see if then you are able to start up the camera. Good luck!! Also, there is a repair show in CA that I used, they were REALLY good, and lower than Sony, it was for my FX1, I am not sure of the name, it was several years ago…good luck!!

I use 9 and 10. If I want to be sure that all is good, when I open a previously worked on project, I “save as” with veg10, after the name so I know which is which. You can also choose the default version (8 or 10) that windows uses to open a veg file…this way is you want to make SURE vegas 8 is the default…in case you want to migrate slowly to 10…good luck!
