I was working on a project in Vegas 9 using files from a Canon D5. They were crashing so I had a friend convert them to Cineform AVI files. Everything worked great and the project was a success. I now want to re-render this project to 720p (I originally went to DVD) and Vegas 10 does not show the Cineform clips in the timeline…what gives? I know this was covered before, but couldn’t seem to find a resolution when I searched. I cannot afford to have the friend re-convert these files just for me to have HD format backup….any help would be great!!
    Thanks

You need to upgrade to at least CineForm NeoScene 5.2 for it to work in Vegas Pro 10. I had held up upgrading my older CineForm NeoScene because it was working great in Vegas Pro 9 but it all stopped working in Vegas Pro 10 so I had to upgrade.

Can Vegas 10 play native D5 .mov files better than before? I think I may still have those, but see I don’t have Neoscene….an acquaintance of mine does and I have not had to deal with this before (as I usually shoot all my own video for clients) this was just for a 3 min intro that another photographer shot and were really cool that the client wanted to use….oh well if not, I will just see if it is worth it to buy it….

Yes, that is one of the new features of Vegas Pro 10. So you might not need CineForm if your computer is powerful enough.

John, What’s that program you talk about, Ultimate something, where you can make SD proxies, edit, then replace with original footage before rendering. This might help him, do you think?

You can do that with VASST GearShift and VASST Ultimate S Pro. GearShift is specifically designed to do this so it’s easier to use. Ultimate S Pro can also do this but it’s a two step process because the tools are more generic. If D5 files don’t edit smoothly then these tools might be a big help.
