If you are using a 32bit system, Vegas is not going to be able to use all 4 gigs of ram. It only sees 2 for its uses…this is a bummer and makes playback (in my experience) more ify. I have the same system and went to Win 7 64 bit from XP 32 and saw a world of difference all around….may want to think about that if you are still on a 32 bit system

No idea….if it was new, they may help you anyway…I got mine from an EBAY store…so…I have no idea what the costs may be. I have had pretty good luck with medium sized companies before, but you never know! Good luck!

They are expensive, I googled to find the cmyk color readings for them and had them printed on 2’x 4′ foam core so they are large enough for me to balance the cameras when I am a distance from a stage….I don’t remember where I found the CMYK numbers….

February 2, 2011 at 1:40 pm in reply to: How to erase voice and low hum?

Most hum is 60hz, our electrical systems run at a frequncy of 60hz (50hz in europe). If you use an EQ with a roll off or “low cut filter” at somewhere between 60 & 75Hz it will help for hum. If the hum is from your camera or an HVAC system, it may not be in the 60hz area. Another thing that a lot of people are not away of is that you have upper harmonics of a sound as well, so if you remove just 60hz multiples of that may also be heard…just for you info….Good luck!

I always white balance, and use Warm Card for doing so, they give you options when shooting. If nothing else, be sure to do a basic white balance so you can be sure when working in post.

Sounds like if the firmware upgrade fail, you have no “bios” for the card. I would contact Blackmagic, they may have to do the upgrade themselves….

Video is lagging….it did it before (another project) as well with audio…I switched to “microsoft mapper” in the audio device settings and it took care of it. This time it was already set to that, so I switch to the Firestudio (I have a Presonus Firestudio 26×26 I use) and still had the lag. I have not tried to render either one with the lag because the FX were not necessary so I removed them. Just want to get all correct before I have a big project with an audio mix as well and this happens.
I THINK it is just a preview problem, but even when I switch it to “draft” it still had the lad issue…very odd…

Looks like the Sandy bridge is having some issues with esata and April looks like when they may be available..

This is very odd for intel…

On another point of system, I would get a SSD drive for the main system drive I have seen a lot of improvement with mine and the speed is definitely faster and things load incredibly fast!!

I do that as well, as I use 1080i I keep my zooming in P/C limited to 1280w or 720h so I can still render to 720p and have an HD format as well as SD….works out nice!

Make sure you have the correct project settings for SD and HD should just sit right on the timeline and be fine when editing. If you find you are loosing part of the screen, goto pan/crop tool and select “match output aspect.”

    Good luck!
