    I make sure to safe before adding any effect, and after as well…I have worked with Vegas 9 and had TONS of crashes. At this point 10 seems to be better, but I have not done one of my 6 camera edits with it yet so here’s hoping!!

    I Understand, I teach sound as well and that is what inverting a wave and combining it together will do. Phase and polarity cancellation is what is used to create a balanced signal…this allows no correct interference to be cancelled over long runs and such…just never thought to use it in a situation like this…very cool!!

    Hard drives are out…this is for a “low paying” client anyway…if you know what I mean..So a CBR is better than VBR for TV spots? I will try that… any idea for what to set it for? And should I also do a 2 pass or not…I always do when going to MPEG’s anyhow!! Thanks!!!

    Very interesting…this probably comes from the inverse wave causing a form of phase cancellation…I would not have thought of that for echo removal…I may have to try that. Do you find that you also loose some of the audio you wish to keep? After 15 years in the studio biz…this is a new one to me!!

    Thanks John, I am trying to upload for TV spots and AVI’s tend to be what they want. The other issue is the YUV AVI format looks great but is HUGE for FTP upload…any ideas? BTW I ALWAYS use sharpening when I go to a non-HD(V) format, really helps to keep some of the “crispness”!!!

    you could try to use a gate and have it stop once the speaking is done…other than that, maybe a noise reducer…however this is all trial and error, getting RID of reverb is really a nearly impossible task….good luck!

    1) I am only aware of the upgrade at Sony’s website.
    2) YES, YES, YES! I upgraded and there is WAY better rendering and playback in Windows 7 64 bit. You can take advantage of more ram, and all in all it is way better.
    3) I would look into the NewBlue FX…they have a lot of really useful fx’s and the cost isn’t too bad either. There is a trial download too if you want to give them a whirl.
    Be sure to make your pictures only as big as necessary. I had a real issue with using pics for slideshows at their normal size. I use the pixel size at my frame size 1440×1080 (for HDV) and 72 dpi, maybe up to 120 dpi if I am zooming in quite a bit with pan/crop and keyframing. I also use PNG’s instead of JPEG’s so I can keep keep the transparent backgrounds…
