Try upgrading to 10c, also make sure your media is not on the same drive as your OS. I have 6 drives in my system and have two for project files, 2 for rendering to, One SSD for main system drive and one for storage.
The only thought with your processor is that it is not even over 2gh….that may have something to do with it as well. I am using an AMD 6 core that runs at 3.2 Ghz..and a lot of the other i7’s are about 2.5Ghz or more as well.
Again with what John said…you may be using a CODEC like AVCHD that may be more difficult to work with..

What are your computer specs? It is not unusual to have frames dropped with Vegas. Are you Vegas 9 or 10 (pro?)….32bit or 64 bit….a lot of things can affect the smoothness of playback in Vegas…

you have to open the program for the shuttle and select Vegas 7…you then have to browse for the .exe file for vegas 10 and it will work when you launch Vegas..

I tried to run that file from it’s folder and I get an error…weird. Also, if I use WinDV, does it split the files at the takes (when camera is stopped) as in Vegas?

To avoid the “save as” detail, right click and chose “open copy in sound forge”. This allows you to not change the original file and work on a different, new copy of the wave file.

I BELIEVE a Sony HDV camera will also play JVC 720p tapes….but I would check online to be sure. If so, I would then get a Sony that will handle both it’s native 1080i and the 720p of the JVC…good luck, I have had good luck so far with finding used cameras on ebay…look for low hrs and such.
