I use Canon’s Vixia G30 and love them (have 3). I have been using them since the G10 (still have 1) and love so much about them. The 30’s shoot in MP4 35mbps at 1080p. Works great in Vegas and still can use the LANC controllers and have 20X zoom vs the 12x in the two you listed.
If you NEED to have XLR inputs, you can upgrade to the XA series which is just the same as the G10 or G30 with XLR inputs and HDSDI out (on SOME of them).
I use the G30’s and a Zoom H6 and still save a ton over buying the XA series.
With that said, I HAVE moved to the Panasonic GH4 and LLLLLOOOOOOVVVVVEEEE working with a DSLR. There are no time limits to recording, shoots in HD or 4K and I have a ton of native and adapted vintage glass that is so nice to use.
That being said, there are some things you loose with a DSLR, but I love it for my more creative shoots.
That is my 2 cents, Sony has some great cameras as well, I wouldn’t steer clear of 4K, you can do post zooms and pans that are so cool and still keep your delivery in HD.

Guess I won’t be “renting” any Sony products anymore. I will purchase things I use that are NOT subscription based.

https://hypedphoto.com/ezencoder.cfmThere are numerous cross format/lossless conversions you can do with them. As well as other conversions.
PLEASE NOTE! I have had some anti-virus see them as false positives, so you MAY have to disable it when installing/using (I believe it is because it uses the command prompt.)

Hey All,
While I agree with you John, that even is Sony is ending Vegas, it is still usable for a while, I would add this. Many of us try to keep on the cutting edge of an ever-changing world here in A/V production. I look back over the cameras I have bought, the change in formats, the increase in resolutions and on and on. The adage is, if you aren’t moving forward, you are falling behind fits here I believe. I have been looking and working on other NLE’s “just in case” Vegas is at it’s end of life. I look at the newer cameras that come out and ask myself, “are there new formats that Vegas won’t be able to support now?” Also, Vegas has it’s caveats as well in terms of bugs, issues and for me playback!! Are these going to be addressed, are they going to support certain newer video cards, what should I buy when building a new system, etc. What about new OS’s
It’s tough to stay afloat in a this environment not knowing what your software company has in store for what you use. I love Vegas, and it is currently my main editor, but I have to hedge my bets as well…Thanks as always for your input and insight!!

I have a 4790 Devil’s Canyon CPU and an AMD R9 290 and can edit and preview 4K video pretty easily (I use a Panasonic GH4).
Depending on your needs, I would suggest just upgrading to an AMD GPU and see how that works for you. If you are only doing short videos, that may be all you need. If you find it isn’t cutting it, you can then look to upgrade your CPU and so forth and still use the AMD GPU you already bought.Xavier (Scott) Francis

make sure you have “disable resample” clicked under the video event properties.
Also, are you using more than one video track? Are you using composite envelopes? If you have your opacity or a composite level below 100% and a video track is below it, Vegas is trying to mix the two.
Same issue if you have a clip above and and the composite level envelope is not at 0% it will try to mix the two. This REALLY slows down a video preview.
Trust me, I edit my multicam projects with envelopes and sometimes I am hunting for that one fade level keyframe that is not at 100% or 0%.Also, if you are using FX it can also really affect the preview quality.
