Computer upgrade for 4k work?
Hi everyone! I am shooting/processing on amateur level and need some advice for upgrading my processing rig.
I recently moved in 4k (rx100iv) and my system falls short, takes 2h to process a 5min clip. First of, my needs:
1.Stabilization (currently done in Virtualdub with deshaker, considering Mercalli)
2.Color (WB) corrections
3.Resize/crop/stretch
4.Audio processing
5.compression to h.265/264My current machine, which doesn’t really process the stuff faster than 2fps:
intel i7-4770k
nvidia GTX 970
16GB RAM
256GB SSD.Question: which part should I upgrade first? Go LGA2011 CPU?
Concerning CPU, can a slower xeon with more cores (e.g. 14c/28t) deliver better than an overclocked octacore unit? (I am budgeting <2000$ for the upgrade, there is place for an 5960x or an E5-2680V4) Or practically, how efficient is the parallelism in the above tasks?Question#2: is GPU processing worth to look at (no experience so far) and shall I simply add a pair of high-end AMD cards keeping the quad CPU?
