So i just got sony vegas 13 pro on my computer and threw some footage to edit in and it was going all good until i reached around the 20 minute mark. then the preview window started lagging to like 3 frames a second. my pc specs are
    Intel i-7 6700K CPU
    8 GB RAM
    GeForce GTX 960
    250 GB SSD
I thought this would be enough to run Vegas but i am still running into this lag problem. I looked up some solutions but none have worked yet. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Lagging during preview playback of certain video formats is normal at times.
I do not categorize that as a problem!
The most important thing to keep in mind, is that as long as its not your
final renders that are lagging, then all is well.
Furthermore you need a lot more than just 8GB of RAM.

its getting pretty hard to edit effectively at 2 frames a second though. i thought for Sony Vegas 13 8GB is the recommended amount?

What have you set the Preview quality at? Best or Preview Auto

make sure you have “disable resample” clicked under the video event properties.
Also, are you using more than one video track? Are you using composite envelopes? If you have your opacity or a composite level below 100% and a video track is below it, Vegas is trying to mix the two.
Same issue if you have a clip above and and the composite level envelope is not at 0% it will try to mix the two. This REALLY slows down a video preview.
Trust me, I edit my multicam projects with envelopes and sometimes I am hunting for that one fade level keyframe that is not at 100% or 0%.

Also, if you are using FX it can also really affect the preview quality.
