Woops, pulled the trigger on that question a little fast. If I had read a little deeper I would have seen that the HVR-1500 list RS-422.

Read Ron’s article “Clients or Grinders” here on the cow. In my experience the less you get paid the more crap you have to deal with. Do your job, get it done. Learn from it and dont undersell yourself anymore.

Thanks Shane, makes sense. Thought it was an Intel issue as my trusty ole’ G5 can run both fine; but it has considerably more RAM.

Exactly. Its a quick and simple job for a friend. The reason they want 2 mics is they thought the first one I did was “hollow sounding” which it was. Now I am no audio/recording guy. I have a Blue Snowball and placed it inbetween the 2 speakers (who where in a conference room with lots of hard surfaces). Is there a better micing practice for a situation like this?

Looks great except, again, it would require buying the pre-amp, and 2 regular mics. This is a simple podcast and I have one USB mic allready. The job isn’t worth it if I have to invest in $500+ worth of gear.

Yeah but that would mean I couldn’t use USB mics. And then how would you get this into your machine. I will be doing it with my laptop because it is at their workplace. So I need it simple if possible.

Yes, pretty much. The broadcast safe filter is a a failsafe. If you use levels to keep it withing specs you are good.

Rob, the broadcast safe filter in FCP makes sure your luminance levels are below 100 IRE. As to why, I’m not really sure. Maybe someone here on the cow can answer that. Good luck.
PS-the FCP manual is an excellent source of not only FCP specific info but film/video info as well.
