Yeah I know its weird. I was delivered a FW drive with media on it already transcoded into QT. I will see if I can get the original P2 files for these clips.

Thanks Shane, this sounds more like what we would need. One other quick question if you don’t mind. Could I capture on the assistant station from HDV to Pro-Rez HD 1080i across the GigE to the Dulce or CalDigit while the editor is working?

Maybe I am overguning this. Basically I want one system for the editor and one for the assistant. The editors system needs/ will be a very nice Kona3/FCP6 system. I was thinking of going with the Dulce Pro DQ or Caldigit HD Pro storage system. For the assistant station I basically need a way to log and capture and get the media to the editors system. I know I could sneaker net it but was hoping to find a way a little more elegant.

Dear sweet Jesus I wish it was so simple Shane. I agree with you utterly but the client is pretty deadset on the off-line/on-line mindset. My biggest hurdle is to try and convince them of the common sense of going all FCP. If not I have to figure out the Avid online way.

David, I am recomending a workflow and am very nervous about bringing in HDV via FW and then doing an on-line on an Avid Symphony.
