FCP+After Effects
If I open AE while FCP is open, my whole system lags unbelievably. Only cure is to reboot. Anyone else having this problem?
FCP 5.1.4
QT 7.4
AE 8.02
OS 10.4.11On a MBP 2.16 w/ 2Ghz RAM

Not enough RAM for both. OS needs 1GB, FCP needs another 1 to 3GB (which is why 2GB RAM is minimum for running FCP)…and then AE needs some RAM. The slowdown is the system using part of the hard drive as RAM (called VIRTUAL RAM)…and yeah, it slows down things terribly.

Thanks Shane, makes sense. Thought it was an Intel issue as my trusty ole’ G5 can run both fine; but it has considerably more RAM.
