Media composer is great for multicam jobs. Capture your stuff
at low rez 10:1 or 20:1, do your cut, decompose the sequence,
then batch capture everything hi rez.I’ve never really run into an issue with that work flow.

Well just drop the sapphire effect on to the title and in the effects pallete there is a check box “effect title only” or something like that.
If that dosen’t work, you can:
1st, drop “S_MakeRGB” onto the title.
2nd, Alt Drop your effect
3rd, Alt Drop “S_Layer” ontop.Scott Cumbo

Leopard will be supported when Media Composer 3.0 comes out next month.
I use both FCP and Avid at work and feel that Avid is just more stable.
Media composer is worth the extra money. But I can see the attraction of FCP especially for the small 1 man shops.

using the fast menu of the bin your sequence is in, select
“set bin display” than select “show referance clips” on the check box menu that pops up.
that will show you all the clips used in the sequence.(it works best if the sequence is in a bin by itself)

you can use a non-qualified system to run Avid, but you
may run into issues. or you might not. Thats the trick, avid
will only suport qualified systems. so you would be on your
own if you have any problems.I’ve been running media composer on my system at home with no problems. Not only is it not qualified, but doesn’t even meet the minimum system requirements.
quickly looking at your system specs, you may need a new
video card. Avid wants nvidia cards, even an older 128mb card will do.There’s really no way to tell if you will have any issues
until you load the software and try it out. I’m not sure
if express pro has a downloadable trial ver. or not.Scott Cumbo

check the deck template in the avid, make sure it has 24p.
example HDWF50024p… you may have to manualy adjust it by
using the adjust deck option.
if an 1800 template isn’t available you can use the 500 template.also, I know that their is a firmware upgrade for some of the 1800 decks, you may want to give sony a call. We’ve ran across a bunch of issue’s with our 1800.
