FCP user having hardtime batch capture
Posted by Kozo Okumura on March 26, 2008 at 9:16 pmi am a FCP editor and currently working on AVID symphony Nitrius system.
I have a sequence that has mix of low res HD and uncompressed HD media.
From the monitor I am using, I can’t tell if it is low res or uncompressed.I am finishing up the project and need to batch capture the ones that are low res.
What is the easiest way to capture only low res?
Is there any command that lists the clips on the sequence with resolution information?

March 28, 2008 at 5:38 amI’d do what Grinner suggests, sort by res and change the clip color for only the low res clips in the bin. It will become very obvious which clips in your sequence are low res. You can also set your timeline to display the resolution on the clips themselves. I find it very useful to display the trt, and Avid gives the option to display lots of info on the clip in the timeline.

March 28, 2008 at 6:22 amI am aware that you can see the clip resolution in the bin. But what I can’t figure out is that I only want to see the clip information used in the timeline. In FCP, you can drag the clip in the timeline back to the bin or also you can simple get the clip info by right click the clip on the timeline.

can you tell me how to do this?

March 28, 2008 at 1:50 pmSure. Under the fast menu (many call it the hamburger menu) at the lower left of the timeline window you’ll find many options for display. I think what you’re looking for is under show clip data.
Also, another way I think may help you is to create a new bin, copy your sequence to it, and under the fast menu select Bin Display. Then select Show Reference Clips. This will fill the bin with all elements actually used in the sequence.

March 28, 2008 at 5:05 pmbtw, if you set your clip color to source under the timeline fast menu, any coloring of low res clips you do in the bin will show in the timeline. I keep mine set this way as well as to offline to give a quick visual of offline clips in the sequence.

“set bin display” than select “show referance clips” on the check box menu that pops up.
that will show you all the clips used in the sequence.(it works best if the sequence is in a bin by itself)
than you can sort by res.Scott Cumbo
