No the Symphony Nitris didn’t suport firewire.
get a Miranda’s HD-Bridge or one of the other boxes and just

Mark you in and out on the frame you want, then go to clip>freeze frame then select the duration you want you freeze frame to be. It’ll

with the quicktime open click “window” than “show movie inspector”

yes their is a breakout box similar to the adrenalines.
You can digitize SDI video BUT you have to use AES audio, the meridians don’t suport SDI embeded

Sorry I don’t know Johnathan Vesey Smith. I’ve been at Broadway for 4 years now. I know they had some REALLY big layoffs around 2001/2002. from what I heard a lot of long time staff got let go then.Broadway’s a really great place to work these days.

How old is the drive? If it’s not too old you could try sending it back. But you can buy an internal IDE drive for under $100 these days.
If you don’t need it to be portable, the only real advantage of external drives are you only start’em up when you need them. So that saves some wear and tear on the drives. IDE drive will start everytime you start your pc. Most of the damage/wear is done to a drive when the spin up or down.
I usually get drives from zipzoomfly.com they have decent prices and I’ve never had a problem with them.

Avid recomends the 250gb limit if your using OMF media.
If you use MXF media you don’t have to worry about that limit.On my system at home I use 500gb ide drive with no problem and thats on a unqualified VERY outdated PC. But that’s dv25 resolution (I’ll uprez my side projects at work to 2:1 or 1:1 depending on the project)
What resolution are you working at? also those hitachi deskstar drives are pretty famous for failing. your drive may be starting to go.
