Normalisation is applied on a clip by clip basis. If you apply normalisation to 2 clips…one with a person speaking and one that is just room tone, the room tone will be ludicrously loud. Once it is applied to the room tone, I don’t know how to remove it. In FCP 7, you just delete a gain filter – not the case in Premiere. So, it is not a case of just adjusting the level of the master track.

This is driving me nuts in Premiere too. There should be a smoother way. If this is it, Avid’s shortcuts are superior here. Shift+Command+A to deselect every track patch at once.

“Remove Effects” does not work, unfortunately. It’s a real head-scratcher. In FCP 7, normalisation gain was an effect that was applied and you simply removed the effect. Premiere’s implementation seems to be different.

It doesn’t appear you can do what I’m talking about. In Avid, you can select multiple audio and video clips all at once and autosync them based on timecode. The document you pointed me to says you can sync multiple video clips to a single piece of audio, which isn’t the same thing.
