Normalisation is applied on a clip by clip basis. If you apply normalisation to 2 clips…one with a person speaking and one that is just room tone, the room tone will be ludicrously loud. Once it is applied to the room tone, I don’t know how to remove it. In FCP 7, you just delete a gain filter – not the case in Premiere. So, it is not a case of just adjusting the level of the master track.
