I think the first thing you should consider is to use an external database on a dedicated machine.
I am about to start a 24 episode series on monday and I will put that thing to the test 🙂
In the past I even made a new database for every reel of a movie.
But its much faster, reliable and transparent with Resolve 8 now.
Its just, I like to save, autosave and export every day too.
I rather spend 5 minutes getting a coffee than losing a day of work.A slice of color…

I see the point very much using Smoke, Nuke, Scratch, Premiere, AE, Motion and especially when dual booting to windows for games.
The Q4000 is the slimest Apple suported Fermi card.
Luxury, yes, weak compared to the 470( not even half that fast ) but it has a mini display port which works with the nice Apple Cinema display.
So its either that one, or buying a Kanex C247DL
Dual-link DVI To Apple LED Cinema Display 27-Inch 2560×1440… for another 150 bucks.

Its just the video output, scale it up to fit your 1920 screen.
I think the Decklink card just doest do much 720sA slice of color…

Two timelines, sorted by camA and camB, group all, apply A grade or B grade , render source mode, re-conform outputs with original edl, done.

Well, depends on the footage media.
DPX files will work fine, you can set the project the way you want it.
But..The Decklink cards itself cant handle the output then.
If you try to use a DV-NTSC quicktime, the real fun starts by Resolve interpreting that as 486 instead of 480.I am in contact with BM and they are working on the problem they said.
The goal is, to use the same footage I can capture with the Decklink card in Resolve and have a proper video IO and also a field aware scaling and repositioning, like Fusion or Nuke would do by internally deinterlaving and reinterleaving on output.
For now, its a hell of a roundtrip from QT to DPX to QT.
And even then you need to use another software because the majority of Resolve movies files wont play in Media Express.A slice of color…

I can do some math if you would like :
1 Quadro 4000 = 800 bucks = medium performance = 400 gflops
3 Quadro 4000 = 2400 = good performance = 1200 gflops
+ extender = 2400 = noise = poor manor
1 GTX 470 = 350 bucks = great performance = 1100 gflops
And for the rest you go to a nice vacation 🙂
