  • R8 with DeckLink HD Extreme 3D and Kona3 in same system?

Posted by John Pilgrim on August 30, 2011 at 10:34 pm

    Hi,

I’m transitioning to Resolve 8 from Color. I’ve been running a Kona3 with FCS3 and purchased a DeckLink HD Extreme 3D for Resolve.

I’d like to keep the Kona3 in the system for legacy compatibility.

Does anyone have any experience running a system with both a DeckLink HD Extreme 3D and a Kona3 installed?

Obviously the Kona won’t output from R8, that’s fine. I’m interested in stability, driver conflicts, etc.

    Thanks!

In my experience the blackmagic and kona drivers conflict with each other and you can’t get image out of either from any application (let alone Da Vinci) with drivers installed for both.

That might have changed recently, but it’s an issue I’ve had in the past.

slots are already at a premium as well
you’d be better off with a legacy boot drive set up for the kona and pop that card in when you need it…

What do you need the Kona card for?

Should be able to use the new blackmagic card for anything you used to use the kona for
