I would pay as much as it would cost to license Primatte , keylight ,Ultimatte or any of the other good keyers.
As long as I can make money with a tool, its worth buying it.

Best way is to make a new timeline with only those shots, grade them and then send em back for him to reapply Twixtor.
Or export em using commercial workflow.Request nr 35435348 for OFX plugins in Resolve 🙂

Well, the other thing is that people doing Transformers also spend a lot .. A LOT of time and money on light.
Also set dressing…you cant go with a 5D and a cheapo 2kw , shot normal people with no makup in normal light and hope it will look like “No country for old men”
Resolve may be cheap now, but the rest is not…
I suggest you get yourself Johannes ittens “The art of color” and some color correction books.
Also the fxpHD course Warren did is an amazing starting point.
But just dialing the darks cyan and highlight orange is…sorry…bullshit 😉

Hey Robert..
The Resolve manual is of course one for the software, not for style.
Basically you wanna key the skin tones, make the key 100% soft, invert it and dial in cyan or reduce everything else and get more contrast.
That normally does it , if not get a parallel node with the non inverted key, desaturate the natural skin tones to 50% or less and dial in orange.
Voila…And try to find some good courses…

When he had started grading the stuff, leaving the red ones connected , grading different shots and do Batch Unlink, all is lost.
Batch Unlink should ONLY be used before any work has done and frankly, i think it should be hidden from the tool palette, should have an additional warning or at least should be undo-able.

You can not run Resolve (8) in a satisfactory way on one card only.
Its ok to render and make changes, not to work.
Ati, well…to much bad experiences…not so much on Apple, besides the fact they dont do CUDA.
You should think about a serious investment if you wanna do serious work.
But if Adobe, Smoke, Scratch, FCP and so on are your main thing, you might be able to live with Resolve being slow.A slice of color…

Today the best internal solution is a GTX 470 or any card with two six power plugs.
Thats what you get natively and then you want to add a GT120 or if you find the funds a Quadro4000 and use one 6 to 2×6 Y cable.
Power is not a problem, neither is space.
And as a general rule, stay away from ATI 🙂A slice of color…
