Not quite the case.
Just rename your Davinci Resolve package into something 8.xx and install 9
Then you start 9, and backup your old database from 8
Then your upgrade it to 9 and voila, both can coexist on the same machine.besides that..9 is truly amazing and I did 2 movies with it now and never looked back to 8 🙂

Piece of cake, load all cams separately, make three video tracks, assemble your edits .
Then group the shots you need to grade at once and your grading on the middle one.
Try to use the track node to scale down all of then so you can even see em together .

I just rendered a whole feature on Mountain Lion .
Its an NTSC documentary and it renders at 79 fps from DPX 720×480 to ProRes 4444.
Only thing I had to do was updating the CUDA to 5.0.17A slice of color…

Before last week I didnt think about it.
But then I had two clients who totally disagreed on everything I did.
One wanted bright colorful and contrasty images, the other lush, purple blacks and orange highlights.
The footage was already treated by me in the best technical way to support both, but oh boy, what a ride.
I also ended up doing it the track node and I actually think its perfect for this.
What i crave much more is the ability to step through timelines on the color page.
We get multiple versions of VFX renderings here and there and there is no easy way of comparing them.
Color versions in fine, but I miss the function to say : play version 3 of all nodes.So yes I agree, it needs a little more.

Export audio is crucial or DIT work.
Its just not possible without it and will probably change a lot of peoples software when its finally coming.
The LOG grading tools will finally provide dedicated Low mid high controls and add a contrast slider so you dont have to build your own with curves.
People will just love the new interface..its sooo much more modern.
And Rohit hinted you might not need a second GPU card anymore.All just speculation of course 😉

So if this is a Retina, could you set it to 2500 or something to see more of the image and have a less cluttered view ?

We are not comparing it to Baselight or Lustre.
I only have extensive Scratch experience to build on and like 10 years as compositor using all sorts of keying plugins in all price range hosts from Fusion to Flame.The keyer as it is is fine for day in day out work as getting skintones and adjusting them.
But the market is also adjusting and clients are asking more complex work from a colorist.
Everyone knows that turning a grey sky into a blue one works fine unless you have some trees in the foreground creating all sorts of chromatic abortion (there , I finally used it 😉 ) or other artifacts.So the request would be either for BMD to provide a plugin architecture that allows third party developers to provide a decent chroma or vector key, or dive into development like they did on the outstanding, mouthwatering, unsurpassed and client thrilling tracker.
Oh, and i totally support the 10K software idea…with panel.
Even if Smoke is only 3,5 K now…and they have an amazing keyer 🙂A slice of color…
