Source side correction
Pardon if this has been answered before or if I’m just missing something obvious. I have a single, flattened scene, which I sliced in FCP7. This was exported as an XML and then loaded into Resolve, which correctly sees all the “add edits” I made, so shots are separate. When I apply a correction it affects all clips at once. This appears to be a source-based correction, which is not what I want. I don’t find a preference setting to control this behavior. Suggestions? I have done this before with another project using Scene Detection and didn’t run into the same issue.

Do you see little red squares in your thumbnails on the resolve timeline?

If so, right click the thumbnails and choose ‘batch unlink’.

If you have any grades you want to preserve use batch copy instead of batch unlink. That will copy all the current grades to the clips and break the link.

What grading work? I think he wrote that he couldn’t work that way. If all your shot get the same grade as the first one your doing, you can only loose one grade at max, so that’s why I gave that advice.

When he had started grading the stuff, leaving the red ones connected , grading different shots and do Batch Unlink, all is lost.
Batch Unlink should ONLY be used before any work has done and frankly, i think it should be hidden from the tool palette, should have an additional warning or at least should be undo-able.

Agreed, it should get a warning.
But how can someone start grading when ALL of his shots are linked? He could only do one grade maximum.
Anyway, I do agree that batch copy is more safe!

Correct. I had not started a grade yet, so the command was fine. The truth is that I haven’t gone super deep into Resolve yet as I am waiting for 9. I’ve only done a handful of smaller jobs. Still partial to Color, I guess. The Resolve UI layout isn’t really conducive for my home edit suite, which uses dual 20″ displays. I hope that 9 will address this.
