Ive Seen the exact same daly on three different systems now.It has nothing to to with the computer, the panel of the media. it’s the video processing on the Decklink card .
I have no delay on the UI monitor . There is a minimum when using the ball controller , but it’s marginal.
The big one hits when any sort of video monitoring is active and gets worse when switching from 8 to 10 bit too .A slice of color…

it’s more like this :
You use two cards and have to decide which one will do the processing .
Only the secondary will do it.
You use only one and force Resolve to do both on one .
You will take a 25% percent performance hit but gain the power for Smoke, Premiere , Maya or anything else .A slice of color…

The list is long and wide.
Stating with multi layer multi version time-lines.
Dust busting and restoration tools, OFX plug-in support and a lot of other nifty things you need for a one man show.
And I think that’s the beauty of Resolve and also its shortcoming.
Its probably the fastest grading system with the best possible control panel support, tracker and animation tool-set.
So, if you have a guy that is preparing the data for you and does the stitching afterward, all if fine.
But today, a client ask for speed effects, de- and re-graining, some glow or light streaks, a picture overlay and a Logo in the end.
And all of that, I have to do outside of Resolve.
Planing is crucial , but the time is not there anymore.
Things like Baselight for FCP will be the future.
Cheap and easy to use tools for the laymen.

If you plan to use any other thing than Resolve, you wish you would have kept the the 5770, like I do.
The GT 120 is a 9500, a hopelessly outdated card and its not much fun to have a sluggish UI.
I actually fancy the dual 4000 solution now.
But thats just because I am also using other apps that make use of OpenGL and need the card in the first slot.A slice of color…

AFAIK Open CL is a set of instruction calculated by the main CPU and not the GPU.
So all the nice processing done by the Quadro/Geforce cards now in the form of CUDA instructions will be passed to less capable but more flexible CPU.
This eliminates the need for a dedicated GPU card, but also slow things down and makes other impossible.
Great for on set MacBooks, great for the free version, but not really the performance you want in the studio.A slice of color…

Which is kind of annoying.
What if we would get an indicator instead that let us know that the footage is off for an amount X plus or minus.
Also the ability to slide it into place would help.
But lets wait an see for Resolve 8.

The funny thing is, when I do the minus thing it draws the dotted line correctly to the left.
When I want to speed up something, it could just shorten the container.
So i first have to shorten it myself and then i can use the speed controls.

When I made music for a living I used analog syths…then VTSs came.
When I made a living doing 3D using Softimage 2.5, 3DS came .
When I made a living using Cyborg for compositing , AE came.
Now I am using Scratch to make a living, and DaVinci came.
History repeating, no money burnt this time 🙂But i totally agree, there should not be a free one, at least not one that can make production ready results.
It will be less and less respected.

I have no time to rebuild complex edit timeline,, nor have my clients the financial resources or intentions to pay for that.
The grading system that reads Avid or FCP projects as native as possible will be the one used in the future…A slice of color…
