Tykwer’s Run Lola Run and Der Krieger und die Kaiserin are two of my favorite films. The second film especially has some amazing scenes.
Hopefully this is a return to form for him.

Depending on your workflow, you may want to add Reel and Timecode information to your footage before working with it in FCPX.
But you don’t need to convert your H264 files to ProRes before editing anymore. Just check the Optimize Imported Media box on import and FCPX will transcode the media to ProRes 422 in the background.

You can also Shift+Drag up or down to move a clip up or down the stack.
Option+Drag will drag a duplicate copy of the clip and place it above the existing clip. -
What format is your original footage?
Did Transcoding actually take place? It usually takes some time and if you just imported your media and then quit out of fcpx then it may not have started the process.
Is your High Quality Media folder completely empty? -
Try isolating the buzz with the Channel EQ filter. You can find it in Audio Filters.

Your settings are fine:
frame size: 1280×720
pixel aspect radio: square
editing timebase: 50
compressor: apple pro res 422How are you converting your footage to ProRes?
You can choose 25fps as your editing timebase. This is not ideal as 50fps is usually shot for slo-motion footage post conform, but you’ll have to make do and tweak your audio (if it was recorded separately) when it appears to drift off sync.
ProRes LT is fine for most DSLR footage. Make sure your Render Codec and Sequence codec are the same. If after doing this, your footage still appears substandard and pixellated, check your RT settings.

Just a heads up, you can find the entire FxPhd Resolve Fundamentals Course with Warren Eagles on the Icolorist website. It used to be 200 bucks but is now free. I learnt a lot from the course, it’ll have you ready to grade in less than a week.
I guess it’s free because Warren’s working on his Resolve 9 offering.

Choose RENDER, from the SESSION Menu.
When the dialog box pops up, click on the OutPut Format drop down menu (it shows DPX by default), Scroll down until you see the flavour of QuickTime that you want.
