Thank you for providing further information. If this is happening every time you try to render any file then it does sound like a software or hardware issue.

Do the other FCP suites have the same specs, ram etc as the machine you are using?

Have you tried standard maintenance procedures such as trashing preferences, repairing permissions etc?

It may be that some of your audio in your timeline is only on one audio track and not across both. Many people set up their tv or computer incorrectly, not realising that they have only plugged in one audio channel. If this is the case, they will not be hearing any audio on the missing track.

‘”I have tried unchecking this box as I export the file…”

You must make sure this box is checked, not unchecked.

It is much better file management to leave the .mov extension intact. That way it is absolutely clear what type of file it is just by looking at it. Also, if the file is used on another computer, particularly a PC, the computer will be able to recognise the file type.

You can remove the .mov extension (although I would advise against it by:

Checking the ‘hide extension’ box (in the bottom left hand corner when saving as a quicktime conversion

This usually happens because one of the files is corrupted. Try rendering in sections rather than render all. When you find the file that is stopping the render, try adding a filter to the file, but giving it a value of 0, so that it has no practical effect. This should allow you to now render that file.

Unfortunately Apple TV plays at a maximum resolution of 720p. While technically this is HD, it is a long way from 1080p, and the limitations will show on a full resolution 50″ plasma. There are other digital media servers on the market that do play 1080p.

The other potential problem with a 50″ plasma is that the ideal viewing distance is around 12 feet. As you start to close that gap imperfections and pixellation will become more apparent. If the source media is already compressed to MPEG2 SD and then upressed using a domestic dvd player, you will battle to achieve a high quality image.
