I just went through the same process and it worked for me

    1. Create sequence in FCP with Digital Heaven subtitles
    2. Export XML of sequence. I selected version 4 in the popup menu.
    3. Open Title exchange and import the XML file I just created
    4. Select Track 2, the track in FCP that contained my subtitles
    5. Saved the converted file.

Make sure you don’t have any clips selected in the FCP timeline or it may export just that clip.

    Hope this helps

Does it matter whether broadcast safe and levels are applied to each individual clip in a sequence or to a nested sequence as a whole.? I see both recommended in this thread.

    Thanks

  • I’m still working in FCS 1, but In the Tools menu you find Render Manager where you can check the render files you want to delete.

We’ve never had success with older JVC machines and Final Cut Pro – they are not on the compatability list. You either have to “Capture now” or capture from a compatible deck.

I’ve used the Apple Cinema Tools to conform a clip to a different frame rate. It would not let me conform the QuickTime clip I imported from my Firestore 100, saying it had temporal compression, but when I sent the clip to Compressor and used the same setting as the clip already had (DVCPROHD 720p50) and then used Cinema Tools on the resulting clip, it allowed me to change the frame rate.

I don’t have a lot of experience with this process, but until the Panasonic Frame Rate Converter supports 50 fps, it may be a workaround.

Panasonic has this European Union support site. The downloads are at https://www.hvx200.eu/support_downloads.php?lang=en

I should clarify. I have DVCPROHD 720p50 Quicktime files I recorded on my HVX200 (European version) to a Firestore FS100 and transfered to my G5 to edit in Final Cut 5. I can edit just fine just fine but cannot convert the frame rate. Panasonic’s Frame Rate Converter does not allow for 50fps, only 59.29.

One solution is to use Compressor to “convert” the footage back to what it already is – DVCPROHD 720p50. This gets rid of the error message I get in Cinema Tools about the temporal compression, but I am wondering if there is a shorter route to viewing my footage at at 50% speed by converting the frame rate to 25 fps.

Another thought – just because it is a remote location doesn’t mean that someone else hasn’t already taken in a generator, especially if there is an airstrip nearby. You might check before burdening some poor mule needlessly. You’d be amazed what fits in a single engine Cessna.

Make sure you know if they use 110 or 220, and take in your own voltage regulator/UPS.
