Is one of these drives your start-up? If it is, the Final Cut Projects folder needs to be in your Movies folder. Also, the entire sub-folder (Craft15 Copy) should be in the Final Cut Projects folder that you created – not just the project file.

Yes, the test is not a cakewalk. Which doesn’t mean it’s right to call it a scam. (It would be a scam if certification was a slam dunk and the training cost an arm and a leg.)
Several years ago I went into the FCP 7 exam very confident – having aced the practice exam and having used versions of FCP for years. But…I walked out of the room chastened with a 79 (and a fraction). The kind of type of thing that tripped me up was looking at a UI (as mentioned by Bill) and being asked where precisely to click to accomplish an operation. But what really tripped me up was that I went in thinking I was more accomplished than I was …that really “knew” the answer, even though it took two or three clicks to prove that I did.
Ultimately got the 7 cert…and later the X cert – with a lot more preparation than I would have thought reasonable for someone who used the application daily. I’m glad I made the effort and it did deepen my understanding… but whether it is for others is up to them to decide.
Not a scam, however.

Looking back at some archived projects, there is a timestamped file in the Backups folder. That file should be renamed CurrentVersion.fcpproject and then used to replace the corrupted CurrentVersion file. Just to be clear, the renamed file needs to be moved up a level for the app to recognize it. (This is just saying what Jeremy said in more words, but I recall having to do this on numerous occasions with success – so it’s worth double-checking to see that you followed those steps.)
If you did all that and it still didn’t work, your last recourse would be to restore from a system backup.

[Brett Ramsey] “According to the forums on Apple, .H264 is ALWAYS progressive.”
To put it a little differently, the Apple developers apparently have decided that users should only use h.264 in a progressive format. Having tried all the settings in Compressor I can find trying to output H.264 interlaced without success, would agree it needs to be taken outside the Apple eco system to get the desired outcome.

You do have the ability to prune unused (or all) render files – at he project level, event level, or for the entire library.

A 256 MB file size indicates a bit rate well under 1 Mb per second. Yes. Something is wrong. Paste the timeline into a new project. Delete all render files and give it another try.

There has been a long period of neglect of Motion that makes me fear the worse. Hope I’m wrong.
