The only purple lines that I can think of represent the audio levels. I don’t understand it why your curser would snap to it unless there was a dot (keyframe) on the line.

If I’m unsatisfied with the standard audio fades in FCP, I often add 3-4 audio level keyframes to make the curve a more gradual fade instead of using the preset audio fades.

No, the activity monitor isn’t lying. Often times FCP doesn’t use full processing power to export.

Exporting speed can depend on a whole bunch of factors. If you have three different machines connected to a network drive on a gigabit ethernet network then chances are, your network or hard drives are more of a factor of speed than your computers’ cpus.

You would have less motion blur to deal with (depending on shutter speed).

If you’re going from 60P to 30P, then you’d throw away half of the frames. If you’re doing from 60P to 60i then you’re throwing away half of each frame.

Having both cards installed might just cause Color or Motion to be unstable. It wouldn’t help speed things up.

The only advantage would be if you wanted to connect 3 or 4 monitors to your edit system.

If it makes you feel any better, I also have a 7300GT that I’m not sure what to do with. Maybe ebay?

I think so. For many projects, I still use AE. But Motion has given me the option of approaching things in a new way which makes it good for some projects.

Motion isn’t as robust as AE, meaning it still has some bugs in it.

It can. Depends on if you want to render in FCP or Motion.

For what? Maybe.

Just a hint. Don’t use Motion like you use AE (keyframes). Learn how to start with behaviors and then add keyframes if you need them.

I’d suggest trying to load FCP 3 to open the project in, and then trying to open it in FCP6.

It sounds like those clips are subclips that you’re trying to digitize. Meaning, they reference one larger clip. You’ll need to trim the clips before you digitize them using Media Manager. Here’s what I would do:

– Select the clips that you need.
– Select File – Media Manager
– Select Create Offline from the pulldown menu
– Select the Codec that you want the new sequence to be in
– Select Delete unsude media
– Add one second handles
– Select OK

This will create a new project with the clips you’ve selected. It will also change the clips from subclips to master clips. Now you can copy the sequence back into your other project and batch capture.

I don’t have a IO, but on our Kona card, you need to send a video signal to it to, even if you’re only recording audio with the voice over tool.

That might not be helpful, but then again, it might.
