What drives me crazy about it is that by holding the option key down I can change the length of the audio or video track without effecting the other. So logically, this should would with the dissolves, but no.
I just wanted to check to see if I was missing something before I submitted feedback to Apple. Here’s hoping for a change it 6.0.4:)

I would suggest editing and mastering in ProRes.

What can I do to change this? “If you’re exporting as the codec that you edited in, I would suggest using Export-QuickTime Movie instead of QuickTime conversion.

I don’t consider 100Mhz difference per core a bid deal. If it is worth it for you, it would probably be the memory on the graphics card. I haven’t seen any numbers on how big of a performance difference you’d see with 512MB of video memory compared to 256MB. It’s still the same graphics processor. I would think the only difference would be the length of a RAM preview in motion. I don’t think you’d see a performance difference otherwise.
So I don’t think it’s worth the $500. I’d rather buy the 2.4 and then when a new macbook pro comes out, but the new one by selling yours and spending $400 more for the new one.

I wouldn’t be recording to DV tape, but just using the camera as an analog to digital converter. So it’s only one pass right into the computer.

I’ve got a lot of old cassettes that I’ve been wanting to digitize and have been trying to think of an efficient way to capture them. I tried to find some sort of equipment that has a cassette deck and a CD burner where it will just do an automated transfer to CD. Then I could rip the CDs into iTunes. But I couldn’t find anything like that.
So I’m going to set up my DV camera and use FCP to digitize them in (only capturing the video). That way, I can limit the capture time to the length of the tape. I could probably just subclip the tracks then and do a batch export for iTunes.

It’s made upgrading to Leopard here both an issue and a $6000 invoice. So we haven’t done it yet.

The issue that I’ve heard of was when people upgraded to Leopard when they were still running XSAN 1.0. To do it properly, you need to buy new licenses for XSAN 2.0.

We outsource our DVD stuff. There is so much that goes into making a high end DVD that we don’t have time to worry about it when trying to meet deadlines.

The only real issue that I’ve heard was with leopard and xsan, but that doesn’t seem to apply to you.
Anyone else know of any issues?
