I’ve had very little luck with the PS3 playing back large H.264 files. I think there are two main problems. First, file shouldn’t be larger than 4GB and second, it needs to be a mp4 or m4v file. You might try compressing it using an AppleTV preset. I think that worked once. But the PS3 is much more picky than I expected it to be.

I’m a big fan of the AJA Kona 3 for downconverting. It’s and industry standard for many companies.

You can choose to crop or letterbox the HD material to SD and either lay off to tape or capture to another system.

If you create a new project, will the proxy and ProRes file play nice together? Little things like this is why I’m not a fan of editing with the proxy files.

To change the input on blackmagic cards, you go to the computer’s system preferences and select the decklink icon under other.

I would first use the render manager to delete the renders for the project (under tools). Then make sure you change your capture scratch to the right folder that you want it in.

Does that help when you export to compressor?

Or you could export the audio with the filter as a single track, then bring it back in so it will act right. It’s not a perfect fix, but it should work.

First, open the file in QuickTime and verify that it sees the file as 23.98. I know I’ve seen the same issue where DVDSP said 29.97 when it as actually 23.98, but the project still seemed to act right when I burned it to DVD.

Check the DVDSP forum and see if they’ve talked about it.

Which EQ filter are you using? Does it help if you change the Real-Time Audio Mixing to a greater number of tracks? It’s located in the User Preferences under the Final Cut Pro menu.

I did a simple test on my system and could reproduce what you’re experiencing. Any more details you can share?

Oh, and you wouldn’t happen to be the same Steve Gaines that I knew when I worked in Costa Mesa?
